Although I'm still very busy with my Rosesampler (Part 6 will probably be out next week) I have also picked up another kit. I bought this about 6 years ago and it was still just lying there (never mind the countless UFO's screaming "me first, me first") as my Rosesampler is being stitched on 32cnt natural linen, it is almost impossible to work on it at night, this on the other hand is easy peasy, so I think that's a good excuse.

quilt-along block 1
A little while ago I spoke about the quilt-along over at Crazy Mom Quilts today I made my first block. Now, it's going to be a very bright quilt, but the colours don't scream as much as they do in this picture, honestly. I've already discovered little mistakes and impurities, but hey, it's my first quilt ever, I'm allowed to make them ;-)

verzamelen/collecting en examenkoorts/examfever

Photo: Danybrod
Another thing that's occupying this household at the moment is exam-fever. Two weeks of exams for my dd and if all goes well (which we kind of think) she'll be going to University in September to study psychology. It's a very exciting time, two weeks of exams, two weeks of waiting and then finally the results on 12 June. Please keep your fingers crossed for my darling girl!

Through the site of Willeke I found the above shown backstitch pattern on the site of Nathalie Looks like an easy and fun project to me, and she has more!
I'm also very proud of my self. With the help of my gp I started a diet at the end of march, now, 7 weeks on, I have already lost 6 kilo's (almost a stone) there's still a lot to go, but it's not too hard this way so I'll gladly carry on.

Last month she turned 17, tonight we had to put her to sleep. Rationally you know it was the right decision, but you're sad anyway. The house feels a bit strange. No cat who gets in front of your feet, or who pretends not to hear you when you want to go to bed and she has to leave the livingroom for the kitchen. And when I come downstairs tomorrow, no little head that comes up to greet me. It will be strange for a while I guess.

photoshoot
In an earlier post I wrote about my daughter's prom. I took some shots but I thought she deserved a little bit more, so yesterday I took her and her best friend to Anita Mundt The weather was absolutely beautiful and she took some great shots of the girls. Obviously they're not all ready and done yet, but these two were in my mailbox this morning and I thought I'd share them with you.
